In a sure sign that the summer holidays are rapidly approaching, this Friday, June 7th is a PA Day. While our students will enjoy a long weekend, staff will be working on June report cards (another sure sign of the summer holiday’s approach!). We will see our students back on Monday, June 10th.
DGH community, our Parent Council is running its Summer Stock Up Little Caesars Pizza Fundraiser! Why support this fundraiser? We have a very active and involved Parent Council that supports the school in many ways. The purpose of this fundraiser is “general” fundraising. Events like Welcome to Kindergarten (where we welcome our soon to be newest students to our school), Breakfast With Santa and the Grade 8 Grad Breakfast, are organized/supported by the Parent Council; your support through fundraising helps keep these activities going! Order forms went home last week. If you require additional information or a form, please contact the office at 705-786-1915. Orders and money are due into the school on Friday, June 14th.
Go Huskies Go! We wish good luck to our DGH Grade 3 to 8 Track and Field Team which will be competing at the City of Kawartha Lakes County Track and Field competition this Wednesday, June 5th! The team has been practising for the past several weeks and is ready to compete! Thank you, Ms. Graham, for organizing the team and providing practice times at nutrition breaks. Thank you to our students for joining the team and giving us their best efforts! Go Huskies Go!
DGH’s Talent Show Directors, Ms. Newell, Ms. Little and Ms. Armitage, are excited to announce a Talent Show will be taking place this Thursday, June 6th! The show happens at 2:15pm (doors open at 2:00pm) in our school’s gym. Auditions have long since taken place and the acts chosen. Students have been practising for several weeks and are excited to demonstrate their unique talents on the stage! Parents and relatives are welcome to join us in the gym – just be sure to sign in at the office before heading to the gym. Thank you, students, for your efforts!
A reminder that DGH’s younger students will have their own Track and Field Day this Tuesday, June 4th! Kindergarten to grade 2 students will be participating in a variety of track and field events over the course of the day. Regardless of the projected weather, please be sure to dress students with layers (if the day is cool to start, students may want a sweater on). Sunblock and a hat are always good to send. Please also send a full lunch, with lots to drink.
It does look like a high chance of rain on Tuesday. At this point, the intent is to continue to attempt Track and Field on Tuesday. Thursday, June 6th will be the rain date, if necessary.
