75th Anniversary of D-Day – Canadian Soldiers Land on Juno Beach

posted in: Home Page News | 0

Take a moment this morning to consider and reflect on the sacrifice and heroism of the Canadian soldiers who landed at Juno Beach 75 years ago today. Juno Beach was one of 5 Normandy beaches that Allied soldiers landed on (the British landed on 2 beaches and the Americans on 2 beaches). Despite facing well entrenched and well armed German soldiers, Allied soldiers took their beaches and began the liberation of Europe and eventual victory in World War Two. 14 000 Canadian soldiers landed at Juno Beach. 340 Canadian soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice, another 574 were wounded.
