Check out the photos from the Electives Days for our grades 7 and 8 students. The Electives Days took place in March. Our students had a great time, being able to choose from a cooking class, bowling and rock wall climbing. Thank you, Ms. Graham, for organizing.
Go Huskies Go! Just as we wished good luck to our Junior Battle of the Books team which competed today, we will do the same for our Senior Battle of the Books team which competes tomorrow. Our Senior Battle of the Books Team consists of: Beth S, Maddy B, Tera F, and Sophia F.
Team members have been reading books for the past couple of months, seeking to memorize an incredible amount of information (the team is responsible for reading roughly 10 books each). Battle of the Books teams are just as competitive as any of our sports teams – so we know they will be giving it their all at board wide tournament. Make us proud, Huskies! Go Huskies Go!
Go Huskies Go! Our Intermediate Boys Basketball Team participates in their County Basketball Tournament tomorrow. Coached by Mr. Costello, the boys have been practising hard for the past 2 months and are ready to give it their all. Give us your best effort, boys, and make us proud. Go Huskies Go!
DGH community, this Friday, April 19th and Monday, April 22nd are school holidays. As always, on long weekends, we hope that our families have extra time to spend together. For those that hope the Easter Bunny visits, so too do I (it is Mr. Parish writing this post). It is a safe bet that there will be chocolate in the Parish household this weekend!
Orders can be picked up between 2:00pm and 5:00pm tomorrow (Wednesday, April 17th) in the school’s front foyer. Remember – we do not have freezer space, so all orders must be picked up.
DGH officially welcomes Ms. Ridgway tomorrow. Ms. Ridgway transferred to DGH last year; however, she was on a maternity leave until now. She returns to our grade 2/3 classroom in a 0.5 capacity. She is excited to be at DGH and coming back to the classroom (she has already been into classroom several times in the past couple of weeks!). We are also happy because Ms. Little, who has been teaching the 2/3 class up to this point in the year, will remain as the other 0.5 teacher in the classroom. Ms. Ridgway is looking forward to making DGH her home for years to come!
Go Huskies Go! We wish good luck to our Junior Battle of the Books team which competes at the board wide tournament tomorrow (Tuesday, April 16th). Ms. Davis, who loves to read herself, is SO excited to be taking the team. The DGH team consists of Emily W, Emily S, Kennedy L, and Danika Mc. Thank you for the many, many hours it took to read all of these books! Whether you like to read or not, this is a tremendous amount of information to retain! Go Huskies Go!
Thank you to our local Lions Club who will be providing free vision screening for our Senior Kindergarten students this Wednesday, April 17th. This invaluable service helps to identify potential vision issues in our younger students.
Do not forget, students, that all entries for DGH’s 2018-2019 Yearbook cover are due on Monday, April 15th at 9:00am. Requirements are: it must be on a 8 x 10 piece of paper, it must have “Doctor George Hall” on it, the DGH Husky must be on it, and “2018-2019” must also be written on it. We have had some amazing covers over the year! This is your chance to add to our Yearbook tradition. Contest entries go to Ms. Clements. Thank you to all who submit entries!
Thank you to all those who participated in the Elmira Chicken Fundraiser! The delivery date is next Wednesday, April 17th between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Orders can be picked up in the front foyer. Unfortunately the school does not have freezer space, so all orders must be picked up. Thank you, Ms. Graham, for organizing this fundraiser!
