Grade 8 parents and guardians, LCVI will be hosting its grade 8 Parent Information Night next Thursday, January 17th.

The evening will begin with an outline of courses, programs and extracurricular activities. Following this, there will be presentations on pathways and programmes. Staff will be available to answer any questions that you might have. After the presentations are finished there will be an opportunity to tour the school.

DGH welcomes the LCVI band this Friday at 11:30 am. We always appreciate the band’s visit and especially seeing DGH grads playing. It will be a great performance, as always!
DGH community, for those students who ordered pitas from our Pita Pit lunch programme, pitas will be delivered TOMORROW, Wednesday, January 9th.
DGH community, a reminder of the TLDSB Messenger App that our board has been using this year (a slightly different version of the app used in previous years). Click on the link below to access a pdf version of the pamphlet which explains how to opt into the app. DGH tends to send out School Messenger information via e-mail (as opposed to text messages or phone calls); however, critical information WOULD be sent out via text messages and phone calls (e.g., an emergency school closure or serious issue at the school). General school information continues to be sent out regularly to our website and Facebook, along with Twitter (and Instagram).
School Messenger Information
I would encourage all those who are able to sign up for School Messenger as it is a useful communication tool. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office at 705-786-1915.
How do we know that the school year is well underway? Because LCVI’s Guidance Counsellors will be visiting our grade 8s this Wednesday, January 9th to discuss course selections for grade 9. Thank you, LCVI staff, for visiting and sharing your knowledge. After the guidance counsellor’s visit, students will receive course selection packages to take home and discuss with parents and guardians. Guidance counsellors will be back on Tuesday, January 29th to help students enter their course selections online. LCVI will host a grade 8 information night at some point in January (once this information is available, it will be shared with our grade 8 community).
DGH community, the Student Council WE Team, Ms. Cayley and Ms. Graham wanted to provide an update with respect to fundraising that had been done in support of charities.
In November, DGH had a PJ Day and Ms. Graham began WE Volleyball. Donations from these two DGH Spirit activities were sent to Sick Kids Hospital. With the $298 dollars raised, we contributed to the following items for the Sick Kids Get Better campaign:
- Stocking Surprise
- Board Games
- Parking Passes
- Sleeper Chair for Families
- Cookies for All
- Arts and Crafts supplies
- Basket of Baby Toys. Arts and Crafts supplies
- Holiday Meal for a Family
- Gingerbread Decorating
- Holiday Decorations
Thank you DGH Huskies for making a special Christmas contribution to families at Sick Kids!
We hope that everyone has had a relaxing holiday! A reminder that school resumes on Monday, January 7th. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school!
