On behalf of the DGH staff, I would like to wish our entire DGH community a safe and happy holiday.  However you choose to celebrate the holiday season, I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy extra time with family and friends.  Aside from time with my family (it is Mr. Parish writing this post), I am hoping for some extra time to read a book or two (on History, no doubt)!

School resumes on Monday, January 7th.  We look forward to seeing all of our students back in the new year.

One of our favourite days of the year takes place this Thursday, December 20th – Breakfast with Santa!  Our ever busy and involved Parent Council will start early in the morning making pancakes.  Following our morning carolling, we will start with our Kindergartens coming to the gym for our pancake breakfast and we will work our way up through all of our classes.  We are hoping that Santa will make a visit during the morning (we are crossing our fingers as Santa has made a visit in past years!).  As always, Primary and Junior students will have the opportunity to have a photo taken with Santa!

Parents and guardians with students in Mrs. Kirkpatrick’s, Ms. Newell’s, Ms. Armitage’s, Ms. Little’s and Mrs. Alexander’s classes – don’t forget that tomorrow, Wednesday, December 19th is a “Creative Christmas!”  Starting at 9:50 am, classes will be rotating through a variety of craft and activity stations moving from classroom to classroom (each class will have a different station(s)).  The Creative Christmas will continue until the day’s end.  Parents and guardians are welcome to join their child(ren) for the day.  We do ask that adults and guardians remain in the foyer during nutrition break and recess times.  Our Primary staff are extremely excited about the day and hope that every student will go home with mementos from the day!

Ms. Walden and her elves are very excited because tomorrow, Tuesday, December 18th, is DGH’s Christmas Shoppe!  For the low cost of $2, students are able to shop from the large collection of “gently used” items to pick out a perfect gift for each immediate family member.  The pride and smiles on the faces of students when they find the perfect gift is truly priceless.  Thank you to all those who donated items to the Shoppe.  Thank you also to the many volunteers who come in throughout the day and make it such a success.  The Christmas Shoppe should be an amazing day!
