LCVI Grade 8 Information Night on Thursday, January 25th

posted in: Home Page News | 0

Parents and guardians of students in grade 8, LCVI will be hosting its annual Grade 8 Information on Thursday, January 25th.  This is always a great night to attend whether you already have an older child in high school or if this is your first to attend!  The night begins at 6:00 pm at LCVI.  LCVI staff will be on hand to explain the different courses and pathways available to students in high school.  For those with a child already in high school like I do and a grade 8 who will be in high school next year (it is Mr. Parish writing this post), having as much knowledge as possible about the high school program is extremely helpful.  High school has changed a lot since I attended!

Should you have any questions, please feel free to call our office at 705-786-1915 or LCVI at 705-324-3556.

Jimmy Chapman is Baaaaack at DGH!

Jimmy Chapman’s Breakdancing Classes, one of DGH’s more popular events each year, is back at our school!  For those who are new to DGH, Jimmy Chapman teaches breakdancing to all of our students, and it is always a huge hit!  Students do not need any background in dancing to enjoy the sessions or to participate.  The classes are full of energy and students are kept active throughout their sessions.

As always we do ask that each student donate $3 towards the cost of Jimmy Chapman coming (about half the overall cost); we are hoping that the Parent Council will cover the other half of cost as it has in previous years.  As always, we appreciate the Parent Council’s support!

Mrs. Burns’ Class Welcomes A Scientist in the School on January 18th

posted in: Home Page News | 0

Students in Mrs. Burns’ class will be enjoying a visit from the successful (and very appreciated) Scientists in the School program on Thursday, January 18th.  The purpose of the program is to bring in people with a hands-on and passionate understanding of specific science topics in the grades 5 and 6 curriculum.  The scientist brings in their own materials and students usually work in small groups to achieve particular goals – which often involves building something to demonstrate the topic.

Thanks for organizing this, Mrs. Burns.

Thank you to Fenelon Falls Secondary School for hosting the tournament!
