Christmas Shoppe Items Needed!

posted in: Home Page News | 0

DGH school community, Ms. Walden and her Christmas Elves are once again asking for your help!  The school community has donated lots of items for our Christmas Shoppe (which takes place on Tuesday, December 20th), but we still need more!  Help the Christmas Elves put a smile on everyone’s face.

The Christmas Shoppe has been run for a number of years.  For the low cost of $2, Primary students are able to purchase gifts for immediate family members and put a smile on their faces on Christmas Day.

The Christmas Shoppe needs:

⋅ items like games and toys that are no longer being used

⋅ items that are good for fathers (fathers are one group that we often don’t have enough items for)

⋅ gift bags, wrapping paper, tissue paper and tape

Please look in your closets and basements – if there are items that you are no longer using, we have a home for them!  Simply bring them into the school.  There is a table set up in the front foyer (to your left when you walk in the entry doors).

This is one of the most popular events of the year for our Primary students!  The smiles on their faces are priceless as they pick out the perfect gift for a special person.

Pajama Day Tomorrow – Spirit Day!

Do not forget, DGH school community, that tomorrow (Friday, December 9th) is a school Spirit Day – Pajama Day!  We are guessing that there will be a lot of sports pajamas at the school tomorrow!  Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Raptors pajamas are sure to be popular.

Break out those pajamas, students, and make this a GREAT school spirit day!  Friday looks to be a little cooler, with a chance of snow, making this a perfect day to wear pajamas at school.

Ms. Kirkpatrick’s Knitting Club

Knit one.  Perl 2.

Did you know that Ms. Kirkpatrick has started at Knitting Club at DGH?  Announcements have been made; however, if your child missed the announcement, it isn’t too late to join.  Students need their own needles.  Needles can be purchased from Ms. Kirkpatrick for $2.  Students also need their own wool.

This is a great club to join!  Aside from the creative aspect of knitting, it is wonderful for developing fine motor control and patience.  It is amazing how quickly many students develop skills in knitting – even at early age.

If you are looking for additional information, please feel free to contact the office at 705-786-1915.

Thank you, Ms. Starr, for organizing and operating our Scholastic Book Fair!  The Book Fair will be open from December 7th to 12th.

⋅ each class will have the opportunity to visit during class time, at some point, while the Book Fair is at the school

⋅ the Book Fair will be open during a number of recesses

⋅ the Book Fair will be open between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm on Thursday, December 8th

Our Book Fair is a great place to pick up a book (or several books!) for Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.  Profits made from the Book Fair go into the purchase of new books for our school library.
