DGH Participates in Earth Day Clean Up Today!

DGH community, students and staff will be participating in our annual Earth Day clean up today.  During the Middle Block, students will be cleaning up our yard and local area.

 

In the Third Block, we will be turning off non-required lights, computers and other devices using electricity.

 

This is a great way for our students to learn about helping the environment and being responsible citizens of the world!

SK – Lions Club Vision and Hearing Screening this Thursday

Parents of students in Senior Kindergarten – do not forget that your sons and daughters will be receiving a free Vision and Hearing and screening courtesy of the Lions Club.

 

A form should have gone home regarding this screening.  If you would like you child to participate, please make ensure that the form has been returned by this Thursday.

Senior Girls Volleyball Team Off to TLDSB Volleyball Championship!

Congratulations to our Senior Girls Volleyball team!  They finished in the top 4 at the County Championship and have qualified for the first ever board-wide TLDSB Volleyball Championship!  For the first time, the top 4 teams from the Muskoka area of the board will be competing against the top 4 teams from the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton areas of the board.  This takes place on Friday, May 6th.

 

Our Senior Girls played an outstanding tournament.  Mr. Eagleson, the team’s coach, could not have been more proud of the girls.  Aside from the usual good sportsmanship, the ladies showed excellent competitive spirit and a never give up attitude.

Elmira Chicken Order Delivery – Tuesday, April 19th

Parents with students who participated in the Elmira Chicken Order Fundraiser (used to help support year-end trips) – the Elmira Chicken will be delivered during the afternoon of Tuesday, April 19th.

 

Pickup at the school will be between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

 

Unfortunately we do not storage freezer storage facilities at the school for that much product (there is A LOT of chicken that is delivered that day!) – so all orders must be picked up on Tuesday.

Mr. H’s, Ms. Graham’s and Ms. Read’s Classes Have Electives Today!

Students in Mr. Hetherington’s, Ms. Graham’s and Ms. Read’s classes, do not forget that you have electives in the 3rd Block today!  Students will either be bowling, cooking at Loblaws or rockwall climbing – sounds like a pretty sweet way to spend an afternoon!

 

Be sure to dress properly for the activity in which you are involved.

Super Hero Day This Friday, April 15th

Do not forget, DGH community, that this Friday, April 15th is Super Hero Spirit Day at DGH.

 

Pick your favourite Super Hero and show your pride!  Dress up as that Super Hero or find a T-Shirt with that Super Hero’s logo – either way would be great!

 

We are looking forward to seeing our students’ creativity!

SK Vision and Hearing Screening by the Lions Club on April 21

Parents of DGH Senior Kindergarten students, the Oakwood and District Lions club will be in on April 21st to conduct a free Vision and Hearing Screening.  A permission form has either gone home or will be going home soon with additional information.  If you would like your SK child to participate, please fill out the form and return to your child’s homeroom teacher.
