In March we celebrated Nutrition Month. This year we celebrated it with a snack recipe contest by selling fruit kabobs on Wednesdays.
The cut-off date was March 31. Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
The snack needs to contain ingredients from at least two of the food groups. The recipe also needs to be easily prepared.
One winner from a Primary, Junior and Intermediate class will be chosen. The winning recipes will be made and given to the students and his or her classes. Extra consideration will be given to original recipes. I can’t wait to read over the recipes and choose the winners.
The sale of fruit kabobs was disrupted because of the snow day. However, we held the sale on the following day. Sales this month have netted the Breakfast Club about $100.
Recently, we have received a number of food donations, such as cereal, applesauce and fruity pieces. I’d like to thank the families who donated. You can rest assured that the food will be gobbled up by the students!
If you would like to send some food for Breakfast Club, we can always use 6 packs of applesauce, cheese strings, yogurt, whole wheat bagels or English muffins. Some people deserve a thank you from me. Recently I was unable to come to work. Two of our Grade 5 girls were scheduled to come in to make breakfast. With limited knowledge where all the usual supplies were they
persevered and prepared the breakfast trays and plates to the best of their ability. Thank you to Emma Jones and Mackenzie Byveld!
During March we have sold fruit kabobs on Wednesdays. Who prepared these luscious creations?
Thanks go out to our volunteers, Paula King and June Salt! They had much more foresight as to how many kabobs to prepare. Thank you so much!
