FUNDRAISING
Our school has many areas that are supported by fundraising money. This year we hope to purchase a score board for our gym and additional school uniforms. As well, the money will be used to bring in special presenters for our students, support field trips and support our music program.
Our major fundraiser this fall will be the Citrus Fruit Sale. We have run this fundraiser the last few years. Last year, many parents phoned the school after they had received their orders to try and get additional oranges and pink grapefruit. Many people found that the fruit was good well in to February when stored in a cool place. Order forms will go home with all students in grades JK-8. The campaign will run from October 4th to October 21st. Fruit will be delivered and ready for pick up during from November 15th to 18th. Thank you in advance for your support of this fundraiser and be sure and sell some fruit to your relatives over the Thanksgiving weekend. Citrus is a nutritious treat!
As well, we will be continuing with the Acorn Greeting Card campaign where your child designs your greeting cards. We had many favourable comments from our families about this campaign and therefore decided to bring it back to you once again. Cards will come home in late October with the expected delivery by the end of November.
DGH has a number of Christmas Ornaments that from our campaign last year. These make wonderful stocking stuffers! They are available at the school office for $10.00.
Our Parent Council has DGH Cookbooks featuring recipes from our DGH families. These are also on sale for $10.00 at the school office.
Later in the term, the Oakwood Lions include us in their annual Skate-a-thon with all money raised by our students coming directly back to the school.
