Book Fair Thursday and Monday

Mrs. Starr has arranged the final Scholastic Book Fair for this school year!  Beginning today and running Thursday and next Monday, the Book Fair gives families the opportunity to purchase reasonably priced and interesting books.  There should be a book for everyone!  Books are organized by age group and cover a wide variety of topics.

Each class will have the opportunity to visit during class time and Mrs. Starr will also have the Book Fair open during recesses.  Thank you, Mrs. Starr, for organizing!

What will Mr. Parish be reading first?  The book directly below!

Blue Jays Trip Looks To Be a Success!

Sigh – I don’t think we had school trips like this when I was in school!  As posted out to our website and Facebook page, our grade 6s, 7s and 8s are off to a Blue Jays game today.  While the day is going fine at DGH (we have only been lightly rained on so far today), I definitely think the students at the game are having a wee bit more fun than the rest of us!

I have included a few snapshots that have been sent our way!

County Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 1st

Go, Huskies, Go!

DGH will be sending 2 teams to the County Golf Tournament which takes place this Thursday, June 1st.  Both a Girls Team and a Boys Team will be competing to bring home the championship!  Ms. Graham has been practising with students (and selecting the team) since the weather warmed up in May.  The number of divots on the yard would certainly be evidence of that!  Ms. Graham is an avid golfer and hopes to encourage this love of the game in as many students as possible.

Go, Huskies, Go!

Grade 6s, 7s and 8s are Off to a Blue Jays Game This Wednesday

Our grades 6 to 8 students are kicking off the beginning of the final month of school in a perfect way – going to a Blue Jays game!  On Wednesday, May 31st, they will be headed off to see the Jays take on the Cincinnati Reds.  Since we don’t see the Reds all that much (they are in the National League), this is a cool game to attend!  Check the weather for the game.  If it is a sunny day, the roof will be open and a hat and sunblock will be needed!

Don’t Forget Jersey Day Tomorrow!

A reminder, DGH community, that tomorrow, Tuesday, May 30th is Jersey Day at DGH!  Break out your favourite team’s jersey or wear your own sports’ team jersey and show your pride!  I am guessing that there will be a lot of Blue Jays jerseys at the school tomorrow!

Keep the outstanding school spirit going, DGH!

Change to Grade 3 EQAO “Writing”” Day

posted in: Home Page News | 0

Parents and guardians of grade 3 students, we are making one change to our EQAO “writing” days this week:

• instead of completing EQAO on Wednesday, May 31st, grade 3s will be completing EQAO on Thursday, June 1st.  Students will be working on (and finishing) Math Part 2 on the Thursday.  Grade 3s will work on EQAO on Monday, May 29th and Tuesday, May 30th as originally planned.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause to parents and guardians.  Hopefully this will not impact too many families.

Monday, June 5th will remain the final EQAO “catch-up” day.  All EQAO materials will be bundled up and returned after June 5th.

Congratulations, DGH Cheerleading Team!

Ms. Arscott and her Cheerleading team achieved great success at their competition at Canada’s Wonderland this past Saturday!  They took FIRST PLACE!  Check out a few photos from the day below.  Clearly the hard work of the team over the past several months paid off – congratulations!
