DGH school community, the Little Caesars product delivery will take place on Thursday, December 1st.  This Parent Council fundraiser raised money to go towards the purchase of new school uniforms.  Mr. Boudreault, one of our Co-Chairs, spearheaded this fundraiser – organizing pretty much everything from start to finish!

The pickup time will be in the afternoon.  Please note that the school doesn’t have freezer storage facilities, so all product needs to be picked up on December 1st.

Thank you to all who supported our Parent Council’s fundraiser!

New School Uniforms are Coming!

Go, Huskies, Go!

Thank you, Mr. Hetherington, for organizing the purchase of new school uniforms!  Many of our existing school uniforms are beginning to get a bit threadbare.  Staff who have been at the school for years tell me that there have been a couple of purchases of school uniforms over the years and we were definitely ready for the purchase of a new set.

The Parent Council’s Little Caesars Fundraiser which just took place helped raised funds to purchase these uniforms.  Thank you to the Parent Council for supporting this initiative.

Older uniforms that are still in good condition will be kept and used to supplement the new uniforms.  We have more teams than ever before which means that the uniforms are in high demand.  As well, some of our teams, like Cross-Country, Skipping and Track and Field, require a large number of uniforms.

Rather than purchasing jerseys and shorts, the school decided to purchase just jerseys (other schools have been doing this lately, as well).  This allowed us to purchase a larger number of jerseys.

The uniforms will be arriving in time for interschool volleyball season.

Go, Huskies, Go!

Christmas Shoppe Items Needed!

posted in: Home Page News | 0

DGH school community, we need your help!  Mrs. Walden and her Christmas elves are already hard at work collecting items and preparing for the very popular annual Christmas Shoppe.  Our Christmas Shoppe takes place on December 20th.

At the bottom of this post, you will find a link to the letter which went home with students late last week.

What is the Christmas Shoppe?  For many years, Mrs. Walden has collected new and gently used items that Primary students (and sometimes even older students) can purchase (for the low cost of $2) to give to family members for Christmas.  While the gifts may not be expensive, they are INCREDIBLY important to both the student giving and the family member receiving.  It is truly the thought that counts in this case.

How can you help?   Look around your home and talk to friends and neighbours.  We are looking for items such as:

• toys

• games

• movies

• books

• items for Moms and Dads

• gift wrapping paper

• tape

Simply bring them to the school office and Ms. Walden will make sure that it makes its way to the Christmas Shoppe!

“WE” Intramural Volleyball Tournament

posted in: Home Page News | 0

Thank you, Ms. Graham, for organizing the “WE” Volleyball Intramural tournament for our Intermediate students.  Students made a small donation in order to participate, with this money being used to support “WE” charitable initiatives.  In order to participate in the “WE” Day in October, students had to agree to support charities and do good deeds in the community.

This is all about…fun!  While there is nothing wrong with competitive sports, sometimes just getting out there, being active and having fun is the BEST way to play sports.

Ms. Graham – thanks for organizing yet another activity!

Parents with students in the Primary division, Jimmy Chapman will be coming for his second visit tomorrow (Tuesday, November 15th).  The first session was a success, to say the least, and students will be building upon the skills and routine they have already learned.

Don’t forget that we are asking each student to donate $3 towards the cost of bringing Jimmy to our school.

There are few, if any, events more popular in the school than Jimmy Chapman!  Be sure to have your child wear clothing and footwear appropriate for breakdancing!

Parent-Teacher Interviews on the Night of Thursday, November 17th

posted in: Home Page News | 0

Parents, DGH’s night for Parent-Teacher Interviews is this Thursday, November 17th.  By this time a letter and/or form indicating interview availability should have gone home with your child(ren).  Our goal is for each family to have the opportunity for a face-to-face interview with their child’s teacher.  We truly believe that an open line of communication helps create the best learning environment and helps eliminate potential issues.

If your child did not bring home an interview form, please contact the homeroom teacher to arrange for an interview time.

Teachers may also be interviewing on other days.
