Our Junior Mixed Volleyball Team play some very skilled volleyball at Mariposa last Thursday during the Zone tournament at Mariposa. Our first set was against Leslie Frost. We won the first game 25-20 but lost the second game 25-16. This meant that we were onto the 15 point tiebreaker game. This final match was a nail biting game and point for point rallies made every serve count! We had phenomenal serves from all of our players but in the end we lost the final match by only 3 points!
Our next set was against the home team, Mariposa. Again we came out strong in the first game at won 25-23. In the second game we had a loss of 24-26 which meant another 15 point tiebreaker game. In the final game it was again point for point with fantastic rallies and very competitive plays! The whole game was one great play after another. Unfortunately we were not able to secure a win in the final moments and Mariposa won with a score of 12-15.
Overall it was a very exciting and well matched tournament! Even the convenor commented on the high level of competition and skill brought by all teams! Played to the very last point was the theme of the day!
Honorable mention goes out to the boys who played the whole tournament with no substitutions! (due to illness and injury we were down 2 male players). Congrats on great leadership and powerhouse serves from our captain Emma Lees! Ms. Arscott could not be any more proud of the skill, enthusiasm and team spirit that our players brought to the court! They should be very proud of all that they accomplished this season.
Special thanks to all parent drivers and fans who supported us and cheered us on! Thanks as well, to the Sr. Volleyball teams who were always willing to play and practice with us during their recess times.
