DGH Staffing Changes

With each new year come staffing changes.  Ms. McFaul replaces Ms. MacEachern as DGH’s vice-principal.  Ms. MacEachern, after 2 years at DGH, is moving to Mariposa (who we shared Ms. MacEachern with last year).  We, of course, wish Ms. MacEachern the best and thank her for all that she did at DGH over the past 2 years.  To say that we will miss her energy and enthusiasm would be an understatement!  That being said, Ms. McFaul is an excellent addition to our school!  She brings a wealth of primary experience to the position.  Having worked at Queen Victoria and Lady Eaton as a teacher and Central as a vice-principal, Ms. McFaul is prepared for the Huskies experience having worked with students from JK to grade 8!

A number of other staff members are moving on, as well.  Ms. James who worked at DGH for several years (and was an Instructional Leader for the past several years) has moved into the role of vice-principal at Parkview Public School.  She is excited to move onto her new role, but is sad to leave DGH.  Who knows…she may well be back at DGH as an administrator in the future!  Ms. Karklins, who taught grade 4 last year, is moving to Fenelon Township Public School (she had to relocate due to staff reductions at DGH).  Having worked with Ms. Karklins in 3 different schools (!), I am sad to see her go!  Ms. Gilpin and Ms. Staples were also lost to DGH due to staff reductions and we wish them all the best in the future.

Two other staff members will be missing for all or most of the 2015-2016 school year for entirely different reasons: babies!  Ms. Alexander welcomed a baby boy into the world last June (congratulations!).  Ms. Carruth will be welcoming a new baby soon.  We wish nothing but the best for both of them!

Ms. Brabin will be taking over for Ms. Carruth in French this year.  Ms. Stebbins will be teaching the SK/1 class while Ms. Alexander looks after the new addition to her family!  Ms. Lucas will be completing a 0.3 LTO at DGH – looking after music for our junior and intermediate classes.  We also welcome Ms. Ray who will be sharing Ms. Marsh’s class this year.  Ms. Marsh has a part leave this year and Ms. Ray will be teaching the grade 2 class during the “leave” part of Ms. Marsh’s day.
