28 Terry Fox
Do not forget, DGH school community, that our annual Terry Fox Run is this Friday, October 2nd. We are looking forward to doing our part in the fight against this terrible disease.
We are asking students to donate $2 (or more) by bringing it into the school or donating online using the information sent home in a letter last week.
If the weather looks to be poor on Friday, the run will be moved ahead to Thursday, October 1st. We will be running from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m..
Friday, October 9th is our first PA Day of 2015-2016. DGH’s staff will be working on our school improvement plan, as well as target setting for their classes. It is a critical planning day which allows staff to work together in establishing school priorities. This is also the Thanksgiving long weekend which gives students a four day break from school!

Thanks to Mrs. Starr, the DGH Scholastic Book Fair has been setup and is ready to go for Thursday and Friday (24th and 25th) of this week and Monday (28th) of the following week. There is a book for just about everyone. There are lots of books for our primary students (I remember reading a lot of Scooby Doo, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Spiderman with my children!) to shorter chapter books to full novels for our older students.
Primary students may visit during 1st recess on Thursday and Friday (September 24th and 25th).
Junior and Intermediate students may visit during 2nd recess on Thursday and Friday (September 24th and 25th).
All students may visit during the 1st recess on Monday (September 28th)
What is Mr. Parish hoping to find at the Book Fair? Almost everyone knows the answer to that question! Star Wars books! That being said I am pretty sure the book below will be pretty popular!
All profits from the Book Fair go right back into the library. Profits are either used to purchase books from Scholastic, or the profits are used to books outside of Scholastic. Either way, it’s a win as our library gains more books!

Dr. George Hall PS is happy to welcome back, Constable Lanning. Constable Lanning has been the local OPP Community Officer for several years. The Community Officer, among other duties, comes into schools and develops a rapport with students. Her Community Officer position was reassigned at the end of June (you generally have this position for a few years and are then reassigned to your regular duties).
Constable Lanning, however, was allowed to keep one school to work with and she chose….DR. GEORGE HALL PS! This is great news for DGH because she knows the students, staff and community well. We are ecstatic to have her in the building again this year.
Constable Lanning will be beginning visits to classrooms soon, which will include the OPP Kids programme to be delivered to our grade 6s.
