Battle of the Books – DGH Junior Team

posted in: Home Page News | 0

I apologize for the lateness of this post (last week was a little busy at DGH!).

Congratulations to our Junior Battle of the Books team who travelled to Bracebridge last Wednesday to compete in the board-wide Battle of the Books competition.  While the DGH Junior team did not win the tournament, they did an outstanding job, placing in the top half of the teams!  Ms. Schmiegelow, the team’s coach, said that the team members tried hard, supported one another and showed a super attitude throughout the day.  We like to win – but we like even better the positive attitude shown by our DGH team members!

For those parents who have not attended a Battle of the Books competition, it is INTENSE!  Students read the books extremely closely and team members have PHENOMENAL memories!  Questions are often answered before the person asking the question is even finished reading it!

Thanks to Mackenzie M, Faith M, Emily L and Evan A for their dedication this year!  Thanks also Ms. Schmiegelow who coached both DGH teams AND hosted 2 area Battle of the Books competitions at DGH!  It was a successful year!
