DGH Junior Team Wins the County Championship!
The Dr. George Hall Junior Soccer Team made it 2 for 2 today! Showing grit and determination and a “never give up attitude,” the Junior Team persevered to win their championship game!
In the first game, the Huskies won 1-0 over Scott Young. It was a tight game, with DGH having to battle hard to come out with a victory. DGH again worked hard in their second game – against Parkview. In spite of hard work and great determination to win, our Huskies could not quite come up with the win, losing 1-0. Showing an even greater determination to win, the Huskies posted a convincing 4-0 over Langton. The win guaranteed DGH a spot in the semi-finals.
In DGH’s semi-final game the Huskies scored their greatest number of goals in a single game – winning 6-0. In the championship game Dr. George Hall again faced Parkview (who beat them earlier in the day). DGH scored first, but Parkview evened the score, leaving the 2 teams tied at the end of regulation. This led to 2 five minute overtimes. Showing an incredible effort, the Huskies scored 2 goals in the first overtime and held off Parkview in the final five minute overtime to claim victory!
Congratulations, Junior Team, on a successful season! Like the Senior Boys you demonstrated sportsmanship and determination – two of life’s most important qualities. Thank you to Ms. McColl and Coach Chris for your efforts this season. The effort certainly paid off. Dr. George Hall is looking forward to ANOTHER sports banner being raised to the ceiling!
